It's... still a shame for it to have to be displayed in such a way.
[to know you were so loved... he wonders, idly, how many people would actually care at home if he didn't come back, or who besides jin ling would be upset here.
after a moment he lowers his fan, gaze dropping.]
But I don't think I would ask anyone not to grieve, either.
Red... No, I suppose she'd be happier to get something that wasn't all fire-related shades. So, blue, green... cool colours as well, maybe.
[he shakes his head.]
Well, that might not be important. But I want it to be something that gives off the impression of hope, or fighting spirit... what do you think might work for that?
Fighting spirit... a tiger, maybe-? It would certainly stand out against cooler colors... maybe green for the background, then, and if they'll provide me any gold then it'll work well for a few details...
[a quick shake of his head, there. no animals, no animals...
he hums, considering.]
Back home, when we were facing a common enemy... we incorporated their symbol when we created a name for the fight against them. Their Sect's emblem was a blazing sun, and it became known as the Sunshot campaign. I wonder if we couldn't find some way to do something similar, some form of symbol that illustrates hope against what we're facing here in particular...
Ah, or against anything they might have to face at home, I suppose-- I really wouldn't know about anything like that.

[better than making up other answers.]
But- yes, it's a little difficult.

... Well, you seem to still be holding on. So, that's good.

[so it's. marginally easier to handle, as opposed to them having condemned someone who hadn't volunteered...]

But either way, people's emotions are what they are. You can't stop them from grieving.

Say, did you ever get the materials? For making fans, I mean.

[he has like four fans with him now and this is becoming a real fucking problem.]
no subject
But also, think you could get some soon? I'd like to make a request.

[he'll at least wait for that answer before rambling about them. small mercies.]

The only real enemy she faces back home would be sura, and that's pretty specific...
[thinks some more!]
But that gives me an idea. Maybe something like... dawn breaking through the night?

[that suggestion definitely piques his interest, though, and he brightens just slightly.]
Ah, and I could use mainly darker blues rather than black for the night, considering the... color themes, here.
[the master's name, all their rooms... it feels a little fitting.]

[every time he's complimented like this he dies a little, he's not USED TO IT.]
I'll see what I can do about materials.
